Environment design

St Peter’s Hospital

The Brief

To improve the environment with child-friendly illustrations for the walls of St Peter’s Hospital children’s treatment room, featuring wild animals and references to the Momentum Charity branding.

Buzz Words

  • Young child-friendly
  • Bright
  • Colourful
  • Bold
  • Suitable for a hospital environment

The challenge

  • Ensure that the placement of essential hospital equipment and signage does not cover any major design elements.
  • Keeping a consistent design style throughout.
  • Include a design for the ceiling, taking the panels and the placement of fixed lighting into consideration. This must also follow on seamlessly from the wall designs.
  • All areas should look interesting but not too busy or overwhelming for the patients.
  • To only use hospital grade materials

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

The process

Sourcing and editing suitable imagery and creating bespoke illustrations

Our previous work with Momentum included continuous line hand-drawn figures but no colour other than the background.

We kept the hand-drawn

style but added colour to each character to appeal to younger patients.

We included the Momentum

circle into parts of the design

as a subtle nod to the brand.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

The

Solution

A variety of cute baby animals in playful poses using hand-drawn lines and an ‘imperfect’ colouring style for a child-like feel. Bright colours and gradients are used, sampling the Momentum brand colours and icons.

This room design was a great success and we’re proud

to continue working with Momentum Children’s
